Cancellation & Refund Policy

This policy covers cancellations and refunds for SavingsBox subscriptions, savings box funds, and appointment payments.
Your savings are always yours. SavingsBox does not take ownership of or earn interest on your deposited savings. Funds are held in a stored-value account through Stripe Treasury at Stripe's FDIC-member banking partners and are returned to you upon withdrawal or account closure.
1. About this policy
This Cancellation and Refund Policy covers all cancellation and refund scenarios for SavingsBox subscriptions, savings box funds, and appointment payments. Your savings box funds are your money at all times. The Savings Box Inc. does not take ownership of or earn interest on your deposited savings. Funds are held in a stored-value account through Stripe Treasury at Stripe's FDIC-member banking partners.
2. SavingsBox Premium subscription
Your SavingsBox Premium subscription is billed monthly. You may cancel at any time from Settings > Subscription in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain full Premium access until that date. No prorated refunds are issued for remaining days of an active billing period. After cancellation, your account reverts to the Free plan. Existing savings boxes remain accessible; if you have more boxes than the Free plan limit allows, you may view but not add to them until you upgrade or reduce your boxes to the Free plan limit.
3. SavingsBoxPro subscriptions (Basic and Premium)
SavingsBoxPro Basic ($5/month) and Premium ($12/month) subscriptions are billed monthly. You may cancel from Profile > Subscription in the SavingsBoxPro app at any time. Cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing cycle. No prorated refunds for mid-cycle cancellations. Upon cancellation, your professional profile will no longer be visible to users for new appointment bookings. Existing confirmed appointments are not affected.
4. Billing errors
If you believe you have been charged in error (duplicate charge, wrong amount, or charge after confirmed cancellation), contact us at legal@thesavingsbox.com within 30 days of the charge. We will investigate and issue a full refund if an error is confirmed. Refunds for billing errors are processed within 5-10 business days back to your original payment method.
5. Savings box funds — normal withdrawals
You may withdraw available funds from your wallet to your linked bank account at any time, subject to a minimum withdrawal amount (currently $10). Standard withdrawal processing time is 1-5 business days depending on your bank. There are no SavingsBox fees for standard withdrawals. Minimum withdrawal amounts are subject to change and will be reflected in the app.
6. Personal box early closure
If you close a personal savings box before reaching your goal date: 100% of your contributed funds are returned to your SavingsBox wallet immediately. Funds may then be withdrawn to your linked bank account within 1-5 business days. No early closure fee currently applies to personal boxes. Any future fee will be disclosed in the app before closure is confirmed.
7. Group box early closure
Group box early closure must be initiated by the box creator. Upon early closure, each member receives a proportional refund equal to their total contributions. Proportional refunds are credited to each member's SavingsBox wallet within 1-3 business days. Members may then withdraw their wallet balance to their linked bank accounts. No group box early closure fee currently applies. Any future fee will be disclosed before closure is confirmed.
8. Account closure with active boxes
If you request account deletion while you have an active savings box, all active boxes will be closed immediately. Your full contributed balance will be returned to your linked bank account within 5-10 business days. If your bank account is no longer linked at the time of closure, we will contact you at your registered email to arrange an alternative return method.
9. Platform unavailability
In the unlikely event that SavingsBox becomes unable to operate the platform, we will provide a minimum of 30 days' notice via email and in-app notification. All fund balances will be returned to users' linked bank accounts or by alternative means during the wind-down period. SavingsBox will work with Stripe to ensure orderly return of all customer funds.
10. Appointment cancellations — user
Appointments cancelled more than 24 hours before the scheduled time: full refund to original payment method within 5-7 business days. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time: refund is at the professional's discretion. A cancellation fee of up to 50% of the session rate may apply if disclosed in the professional's profile. No-shows (user does not attend without cancellation): no refund. The professional receives their full session payment.
11. Appointment cancellations — professional
If a professional cancels an appointment for any reason, the user receives a full refund within 5-7 business days, no questions asked. Repeated professional cancellations may result in suspension of the professional's SavingsBoxPro account.
12. Disputed appointments
If you believe an appointment was not delivered as agreed or that a professional acted inappropriately, contact us at legal@thesavingsbox.com within 7 days of the appointment date. We will review the dispute and may issue a partial or full refund at our discretion. Chargebacks initiated through your bank or card issuer without first contacting SavingsBox may result in account suspension.
13. Refund processing
All refunds are processed through Stripe back to the original payment method. Credit/debit card refunds: 5-10 business days (depending on your card issuer). Bank account (ACH) refunds: 3-7 business days. Wallet credits for box fund returns are immediate to your SavingsBox wallet; withdrawals from your wallet to your bank take an additional 1-5 business days. SavingsBox does not issue refunds via cash, check, wire transfer, or cryptocurrency.
14. How to request a cancellation or refund
In-app: Settings > Subscription > Cancel Plan for subscriptions; Savings Box > Close Box for early box closure. By email: legal@thesavingsbox.com — include your account email and a description of your request. We aim to respond to all refund requests within 2 business days.
15. Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to update this policy. Changes that reduce user protections will be communicated at least 14 days in advance via email and in-app notification. Changes that enhance protections take effect immediately.
